Thoothukudi Electricity Distribution Circle/Thoothukudi was bifurcated form Tirunelveli Circle during 1987. It consists of 4Nos of Distribution Divisions, 14Nos Sub-divisions and 1No C&I Sub-division, 56Nos of Distribution sections and 6Nos of C&I Sections. There are 4Nos of Revenue Units under the control of Distribution Divisions.

There are 4Nos of Sub Stores: 1) Urban/Thoothukudi, 2) Rural/Thoothukudi, 3) Kovilpatti, 4) Tiruchendur

1No Central Stores located at SIPCOT, Thoothukudi.

The Jurisdiction comprises of Thoothukudi, Trichendur, Udangudi, Sathankulam, Alwarthrunagari, Srivaikundam, Karungulam, Ottapidaram, Kayathar, Vilathikulam, PudurTaluks. There are 176Nos of H.T. Consumers and 5,71,737Nos of L.T. Consumers as on 30.09.2011.
