I) Social Security Schemes:

The Following Eight Social Security Schemes are operated in Thoothukudi District.

1. Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension.

2. Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension.

3. Indira Gandhi National Disabled Pension.

4. Destitute Widow Pension.

5. Destitute Agriculture Labour’s Pension.

6. Deserted Wives Pension

7. Disabled Pension.

8. Un-married women Pension.

II) Tamilnadu Agricultural Labours Farmers Social Security and Welfare Schemes:

The following Five Assistance Schemes are provided in this Scheme.

1. Marriage of Members

2. Marriage of Members’ Children

3. Old Age Pension Scheme

4. Natural Death – (Financial assistance with Funeral Expenses)

5. Accidental Death – (Financial assistance with Funeral Expenses)

As per G.O.Ms.No.41 Social Welfare and Noon Meal (SW 6-1 Department Dated 17.05.2011) monthly Pension is increased from Rs.500/- to Rs.1000/- There are 80630 beneficiaries are getting Pension Rs.1000/- per month as detailed below in this District.

The above Beneficiaries are getting 4 (Four) Kilo Rice per month and free Dhoties and Sarees in Deepavali and Pongal festivals.

In this Distsrict the Pension amount sent to Beneficiaries through ‘E-Money order from August 2010 to the pensioners.

The Eligibility to get this assistance is as follows.

1.Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension.

Age at 65 years and above. Beneficiary name has been included under Below Poverty Line List. No income from any sources. Beneficiary have not working strength. He is not in Beggar Business. Do not own any property values more than Rs.5000/-

2). Indira Gandhi National Disabled Pension.

Beneficiary age is Completed from 18 to 64. Disability at 80% and above, Beneficiary name has been included under Below Poverty Line List. No income sources. He is not in Beggar Business. Do not own any property values more than Rs.5000/-

3). Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension.

Age Completed from 40 to 64. She have not remarriage. She has no income sources. Her name has been included under Below Poverty Line List. Do not own any property values more than Rs.5000/-

4). Destitute Widow Pension.

Age at 18 and above She has no remarriage. Already She have aged sons without income. Living without any income and value of property not more than Rs.5000/-

5). Disabled Pension.

Aged at 45 and above. Disability at 60% and above. The committee head by the Collector can relax and grant Pension in Special case even if he/she is below 45 years. Not fit for any work. No sources of income. Property value not more than Rs.5000/-

6). Destitute Agriculture Laboures Pension.

Age at 60 years and above. Living without income. Not habitual Beggar. Property value not more than Rs.5000/-

7). Deserted and Destitute Wives Pension.

Should be of 30 years old and above. She is living in Prominent residence in Tamil Nadu. She has married in properly should be separately living for atleast five years without income and property value not more than Rs.5000/-

8). Destitute Spinsters Pension.

A Women has Completed age at 50 years and has not attend the marriage. She has no income and support way to living. She is not involved in Beggar Business. Property value not more than Rs.5000/-
