The Government of Tamil Nadu is implementing the Scheme of Free Supply of Uniforms to the Children studying Std.I to VIII every year under PT MGR Nutritious Meals Programme from the year 1985-1986. The Department of Social Welfare is entrusted with the work of stitching and distributing uniforms to the Education Department through Women Tailoring Industrial Co-operative Societies. The Uniforms are stitched and handed over to the Education Department for distributing to the Students of respective schools covering under Noon-Meals Programme.So far, 49711 Nos. of Boy Sets and 46739 Nos. of Girl Sets were distributed through 3 Women Tailoring Industrial Co-operative societies in Thoothukudi District for the year 2002-2003
The Hon’ble Chief Minister had introduced the revolutionary Girl Child Protecton Scheme in the year 1992 to promote Family Planning, to eradicate Female Infanticide and to discourage preference of Male Child
Scheme I (Re- structured in the year 2002)
Eligibility Criteria is as follows:
An initial Deposit of Rs.22,200 will be made in the Tamil Nadu Power Finance Corporation by the government in the name of the Child. An amount of Rs.150 as monthly incentive shall be given to the child on completion of 5th year and upto 20th year of Deposit for her education purposes. However, the maturity value shall be payable esam. On completing of 20 years of Deposit, the Girl Child will receive a lump sum amount that actually accuse from the cumulative deposit.
Scheme II
Eligibility Criteria is as follows:
An initial deposit of Rs. 15,200 will be made in the Tamil Nadu Power Finance Co-operation by Government for each Girl Child. All procedural formalities would be followed as elucidated in the Scheme -1
