Department Profile:
- Monitoring progress of Audit of Village Panchayat accounts by Dy.BDOs(Audit) and Local Fund (Audit) Department.
- Follow up actions on Audit Reports relating to Village Panchayats, Panchayat Unions and District Panchayat issued by Accountant General and Local Fund Audit Department.
- Monitoring all Panchayat Union Officials to prepare and submit Annual Accounts to Local Fund Audit Office within stipulated period .
- Settlement of audit objections in Village Panchayats which was raised by Deputy Block Development Officers (Audit)
- Convening Block Level/ District Level Joint Sitting every month for settlement of audit objections raised by Local Fund Audit department in Village Panchayats and Panchayat Unions
- Inspection of Fifteen Village Panchayats every month and follow up action regarding rectification of the defects noticed during inspection.
- Convening the District High Level Committee meeting bimonthly for settlement of long pending audit objections in Panchayat Unions
- Monitoring Progress of preparation of replies to Accountant General Audit paras and sent to Accountant General by all the three tiers of Panchayats.
- Convening the District Level Joint Sittings for settlement of the Audit Objections which are raised by the Accountant General for Block Panchayat and District Panchayats.
- Follow up action on report of Public Accounts Committee relating to Auditin all the three tiers of Panchayats.
- Surcharge Proceedings under Tamil Nadu Panchayat Act 1994 against Village Panchayats Presidents
- Any other matter as may be assigned from time to time by the Government / Commissioner of Rural Development / District Collector.
