1. DISTRICT PROFILE
IN THOOTHUKUDI DISTRICT Comprises of two Divisions named as
- Thoothukudi. 2. Kovilpatti.
IN THOOTHUKUDI DIVISION Government have established 22 Veterinary Dispensaries, 5 Upgrade sub centre, 24 Veterinary Sub centers under the control of Assistant Director of Animal Husbandry, Thoothukudi and 1 Veterinary Hospital under the control of Veterinary Surgeon and 1 Clinician centre, 1 Animal Disease intelligence Unit under the control of Clinician Thoothukudi and also 1 Cattle Breeding and Fodder Development unit under the control of Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry, Thoothukudi.
IN KOVILPATTI DIVISION Government have established 13 Veterinary Dispensaries, 4 Upgraded Sub centre, 32 Veterinary Sub centers 1 Mobile Unit, under the control of Assistants Director of Animal Husbandry and 1 Veterinary Hospital under the control of Veterinary Surgeon.
In both Division overall control by the Regional Joint Director of Animal Husbandry, Thoothukudi.
Better Cattle Breeding by Artificial insemination with frozen semen Collected from proven bulls, fodder development Disease investigation and control of diseases by periodic preventive vaccination, treatment of ailing animals, deworming and implementation of other special schemes are done by these organization.
